![]() This being said, I find D3 much more enjoyable in short bursts for a few weeks every season.Have you ever wanted to buy a game on Steam but didn't know if it was good? Have you ever had just enough money for an indie game but didn't know whether it was worth buying? Have you ever asked yourself, "Should I buy this game ?" I don't feel great when I get a full set of gear within days of casually playing. D3, in contrast, gets boring really fast due to the ease of acquiring items. I think D2 is less enjoyable in the short-term as it's very hard to get items, but it actually holds my attention over the long-term. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but it gets the point across I think. D3 is based around sets with some uniques thrown in. This is compounded by the presence of charms in D2.ĭ2 is based more around runewords as top-tier items with a few uniques, rares, etc. Both encourage grouping for experience.ĭ3 has a more generous inventory size than D2. D3 encourages grouping more for finding items while D2 discourages it with the shared loot system. You can gain both experience and items this way. Endgame in D3 involves running rifts, greater rifts, etc. I prefer the personal loot system, but many don't.Įndgame in D2 involves killing Baal for levels, hunting down desirable items for use/trading, and PvP. D3, on the other hand, will hand you a full set of items that you will continue to upgrade over the course of the season.ĭ2 has a shared loot system. You will spend dramatically more time just gearing up your character. I will try to shorten it.ĭ2 is more hardcore. I played D2 for years back in my teens and played D3 a decent amount in my adult life. I made a post a few days ago detailing all the differences.
